Ronald  Regan  once  said

“The  republic  is  a  DREAM”.

He  said  without  a  dream the  republic  will  be  lost.  We’ve  got  to  have  a  dream,  a  vision  –  a  GOAL.  In the  bible  it  says without  a  dream  or  a  goal  in  life,  without  something  to  go towards  –  people perish.

WITHOUT  A  GOAL  FOR  YOUR  OWN  LIFE,  YOU  BECOME  A  PART  OF  SOMEONE  ELSE’S GOAL  IN  LIFE,  IN  WHICH  CASE,  YOU’RE  NOT  RUNNING  THE  DAY,  THE  DAY  IS  RUNNING  YOU.

We  realize  that  goals  are  the  reason  for  us  to  manage  our  time  better  and as  such,  goals  and  the  urgency  to  work  on  them  and  the  expectancy  to  see them  manifest  into  reality  pushes  us  to  formulate  effective  time  management strategies.

Goal  setting  can  be  used  in  every  single  area  of  your  life,  including financial,  physical,  personal  development,  relationships,  or  even  spiritual.  Yet, most  people  never  take  the  time  to  find  out  what  their  true-life  goals  are and therefore,  they  never  attempt  to  consciously  formulate  any  time  management strategies  at  all.

Numerous  studies  have  shown  only  a small percent  of  the  population  sets goals  and  only  about  one  percent  write  them  down. Most  people  blame everything  that  goes  wrong  in  their  life  on  something  or someone  else.  They take  the  role  of  a  victim  and  they  give  all  their  power and  control  away.

Successful  people  instead  dedicate  themselves  towards  taking  responsibility for  their  lives  and  stay  loyal  to  their  goals  and  commitments,  no  matter  the circumstances  or  events.

Goals  can  be  described  as  the  things  that  add  meaning  to  your  life,  they pull  you  towards  it  and  make  you  spring  out  of  the  bed  at  4.30  AM  every single  day  as  opposed  you  pushing  towards  it.  The  push  motivation  is  quit often  found  externally  and  as  such,  is  short  lived.  When  the  pull  is  sustainable and  retainable for long  term,  it  makes  time  management  a  whole  lot  easier.

It  is  therefore  imperative  that  one  takes  control  of  his  or  her  life  instead  of simply  accepting  whatever  is  handed  to  them  by  life.  Without  goals,  time  management  is  pointless. Therefore,  the  first  step  towards time  management  is  goal  setting. Your  goals  could  be  anything  from  achieving higher  success  professionally, or  increasing  your  savings  by  100  %  every month,  or  to  have  a  chiseled  body with  six  packs  all  year  around,  spend  more time  with  your  family,  go  on more  vacations,  be  debt  free,  make  more  money, live  on  your  terms, start  a  non-profit  organization  to  give,  etc.

But it has to be born of you and not something that was planted in you by someone else for if you try to live life fulfilling someone else’s goals, you may be wasting your life doing it.

As Harley Davidson said

“WHEN WRITING THE STORY OF YOUR LIFE, DON’T LET ANYONE ELSE HOLD THE PEN”.

So ask yourself this question, who’s writing your story?
