Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani MD-Founder of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd. and of Nueclear Healthcare Limited, a radiology diagnostics company affiliated with Thyrocare for the last 25 years. A bonafide Scientist and Entrepreneur, he used his excellent understanding of thyroid biochemistry to build Thyrocare, a company valued above 3400 crores today.

It branched out of thyroid testing to diabetes and cardiovascular diagnostics. He received his Masters and Doctorate from the University Of Mumbai back in 1988 and 1995, while working at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre – BARC Mumbai. His prudence can be seen in the transition he made from mathematics to microbiology testing; now, COVID testing makes up for about two-fifths of his turnover. He finds himself on a vantage point to better take stock of the healthcare and testing scenario.

Having once faced the vagaries of life, he catapulted himself from the bottom of the pyramid to the top, all by trial-and-error and ceaseless perseverance. He has given various talks like ‘The Luxury of Poverty and ‘Rags to Riches’, and actively works to motivate youngsters to take up Entrepreneurship. He even has a personal blog where he shares stories from his life and has a particular interest in Carnatic music.
