Kalki Subramaniam is an Indian transgender activist, queer artist, entrepreneur, poet, actor, and inspirational speaker. She serves as a member of the National Council of Trans Persons, constituted by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in India. As an expert in DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) issues, Kalki is the founder of the Sahodari Foundation, an organization dedicated to empowering and advocating for the transgender community in India. Through its innovative projects, the foundation drives social change and empowerment. Kalki played a pivotal role in the fight for legal recognition of transgender rights in India, contributing to the landmark 2014 Supreme Court ruling that recognized the civil rights of transgender individuals. She has received multiple awards for her significant contributions to social justice and her efforts to uplift underprivileged transgender persons, inspiring countless others along the way.
