Loshen is currently Associate Partner in Aon’s London-headquartered EMEA executive compensation practice and works remotely from Dubai supporting UK & Europe clients in the Energy, Renewables & Commodities plus Technology & Life Sciences verticals, in addition to focussing executive compensation across sectors in Middle East and Africa.     

Prior to this he led reward change programmes for established corporate groups looking to pivot or change work models, and supported the growth strategy of MTN Group through an M&A phase in the 2000’s. During this time, he was lead HR due diligence specialist on potential M&A’s. In addition to his core expertise in executive and employee reward, he is also skilled in the areas of global mobility and service delivery, plus has acted as secretary to an independent Board Remuneration Committee.

He was Head of Reward at Group & Regional levels and external independent consultant with Big 5 firms Arthur Andersen/KPMG, PwC, plus led the Africa reward consulting practice for EY.

Loshen’s formative years were at Arthur Andersen in South Africa while the country was moving from apartheid to a democracy. This established his consulting mindset and creative work approach that he has used to great success for both external clients and his employers. This internal / external consulting dynamic is exemplified by him moving to MTN to move their executive reward in-house, before returning to Arthur Andersen in 2002.

He left South Africa in 2004 to take up a role with Qatar Petroleum, the 2nd largest Oil & Gas producer in the Middle East. At Qatar Petroleum, he helped rebuild the foundational pay programme and he was promoted to a Division Manager leading Performance and Reward, managing three HR sections Compensation, Job Evaluation and Performance Management for the biggest employer in the State of Qatar. Loshen was part of the working group that drafted the reward regulations under the HR Laws for the State of Qatar.

He moved to the UAE to set up MTN Group’s secondary head office in Dubai. Using DIFC’s business infrastructure, he embedded Dubai as the hub of MTN’s international mobility programme as Global Employment Company. 

After 3 roles with RasGas, Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) and Dubai Properties in the Middle East; and 1 for MTN in Johannesburg, Loshen was hired to lead EY’s Africa reward consulting practice in 2018. After a short stint, he took up the role of Vice President Reward with Gold Fields, a top 10 global gold producer listed on the JSE and NYSE with operations in Peru, Chile, Ghana, Australia and South Africa.

Loshen returned to Dubai in 2022 after leaving Gold Fields and is currently Associate Partner for Aon’s executive compensation practice. He is a full-time remote worker and is part of Aon’s EMEA Executive Compensation leadership team headquartered in London.

As part of his £1 million revenue portfolio, he leads the practice’s Energy, Renewables & Commodities vertical for UK & Europe, supports the Technology and Life Sciences vertical across UK and Europe and has general industry responsibility for executive compensation consulting in Middle East and Africa. His main area of focus is independently advising Remuneration Committees (public and private clients) on their remuneration policies, implementation, change initiatives and governance.
