He has an comprehensive CV being qualified being both a Dispensing Optician and Optometrist and having sub-specialties in Pathology (Diabetes, Dry Eye, Macular Degeneration); Refractive and Intra-ocular Surgery; Therapeutics and Independent Prescribing; Continuing Education and Communication; Low Vision and Practice Management. He has also published peer reviewed and optical press papers.

Scott has a proven track record of being a creative thinker and identifying opportunities and making things happen, evident from his inception of Eyecare 3000 which has become the largest 2 day CET course in the UK, training more than 6500 Optometrists over 21 years. He also from started up 4 Mackie Optician practices from no patient base and became a leading independent in Lanarkshire, over the same time period as Eyecare 3000. He also set up a new private LVA Clinic at the 4 private hospitals in Scotland after identifying their was a gap in this service provision and subsequently sold this LVA concept to a small group of independent practices.

He also has ambassadorial qualities and flair, being people focused and being able to influence at all levels, an example being setting up a new paediatric dispensing clinic at Yorkhill Hospital for Sick Children through lobbying and gaining NHS funding. Indeed, this was the first time the government funded a primary care clinic in a secondary care setting in Scotland.
He is familiar with the leadership role required in a complex organization being Professional Services Director for Optical Express, a blue chip company specialising in refractive surgery.  He has also been team leader for Vision Aid Overseas and Syrian Red Crescent.

He also has membership of a range of organisations including the College of Optometrists (Examiner, Assessor Previous council member and Fellowship (pending); General Optical Council (CET Approver); Federation Of Ophthalmic and Dispensing Opticians (SME) etc. Finally, Scott has achieved many awards including winning the optician award as the UKs Specialist Eyecare Practice and along with my wife becoming the first couple in the UK to gain Independent Prescriber Status.
