Som Mittal is the Former President and Chairman of NASSCOM. He has been advising companies, CEOs, trade bodies, and senior business leaders on business, management, government, and global policies. He motivates and mentors entrepreneurs to help succeed in growing and managing business ventures to managing mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures across diverse business cultures. He has been working with governments worldwide to formulate trade, taxation, and immigration policies that balance business, national and social interests. He currently serves as a strategic advisor to corporations; governments; academic institutions; trade bodies and business leaders. During his tenure in NASSCOM, a number of new initiatives like Data Security Council of India, the National Digital Literacy Mission, 10,000 Start-up, Sector Skill Council, and Global Inhouse Centres got implemented. He has served on several Govt. Policy-making bodies including Prime Minister Committee for e-Governance. Prior to NASSCOM, he held senior global positions in Hewlett Packard, Compaq, and Digital Equipment. He was also Chief Executive of Wipro. Prior to the IT industry, he worked in the Auto/ Engineering industry with Denso, Escorts, and Larsen and Toubro. He has also been a speaker at management institutes and international events on information technology trends and opportunities, cybersecurity, and global business. He was recognized by the WITSA with a Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding dedication to the growth of the global information and communications technology industry. He received Business Leader of the Year by Rotary International and the Distinguished Alumni Award from the IIT Kanpur too. Further, the expert is an alumnus of IIT, Kanpur, and IIM, Ahmedabad.
